Six Great Accessories For Your JET SKI® Personal Watercraft

Oct. 19 2020 Lifestyle By ___

Everyone knows how thrilling it is to ride a JET SKI® personal watercraft or PWC. These fast, lithe watercraft can cut through the water with ease and make your whole afternoon that much better as you coast over the shimmering waters of the Florida coast.

As you become more familiar with your PWC, though, you may wonder whether you can improve upon it with a few aftermarket accessories. And the truth is that yes, you can! Jet Ski of Miami is your local JET SKI® dealer, based in Miami. Here are just a few of the many excellent accessories you can obtain to make your PWC experiences better!

1. Swim Ladder

Want to get in and out of the water easily without a struggle? Some PWC don’t come with a means of entrance to the water, so carrying a lightweight nylon swim ladder can come in handy. You can also install a boarding step if you prefer.

2. Fenders & Bumpers

Launching and docking your JET SKI® PWC can lead to some nicks and bangs if you’re not careful or if you’re new to the process. But you can easily protect your PWC with some fenders and bumpers that clip onto the edges. These items will give you a buffer that helps you to easily launch or dock your personal watercraft without doing any damage to it.

3. Dock Line

Speaking of launching and docking your PWC, you’ll need some way to tie it in place when you’re on your own. Some dock line in the form of a bungee cord can give you some much-needed elasticity that will help you to easily lash your PWC down while you’re launching it or keep it moored at a dock when you leave the water.

Look for about 12’ of polypropylene rope that’s braided for strength. Make a loop at the end if there isn’t one already that can fit over your PWC. You’ll want to learn a few hitches to make sure you’re ready to tie your JET SKI® personal watercraft down safely and securely.

4. Waterproof Phone Storage

Everyone carries their phone with them everywhere these days, and why wouldn’t you? A phone can be a real boon on a PWC because it lets you use GPS to track your location, take gorgeous photos and fun selfies with your HD camera, play your favorite tunes via Bluetooth® and call for rescue if you get stuck in the middle of a lake.

However, phones are not impervious to the water, so you’ll need some way to store your phone safely while you ride. Most PWC come with a charging bay that’s waterproof, but what if you’re relaxing on your anchored PWC and your phone slips out of your hands and drops right into the drink? A waterproof phone case that floats will save your bacon.

5. Wetsuit

Even though we’re down in the land of sunshine here in Florida, the temperature of the water is always going to be much cooler than it is on land. Your body isn’t very good at regulating itself in cold water, so you need to protect yourself in case you fall in by wearing a wetsuit. The nice thing about a wetsuit is that it also protects your skin from the sun so you don’t have to worry about reapplying that waterproof sunscreen every hour.

6. Anchor

If you want to hang out in the sunshine on the water and chat with your fellow JET SKI® personal watercraft riders, then you’ll need a way to keep yourself in one place so you don’t float into the shallows where your PWC will take on sand. You also don’t want to drift out further to sea. Carry a small anchor on your PWC that can hold you down. Fluke anchors are good for mud and sandy bottoms, while sandbags are best in calm waterways. If you really want to lash yourself into place, get a screw anchor.
