Here at Jet Ski of Miami, we’ve provided some essential fishing boat features that you’ll either want to add to your boat or utilize more often. Rod Holders
One of the most essential features you can get for any fishing boat is rod holders. Whether you’re bringing friends and family along or you just want to have multiple lines out at a time, rod holders are a great way to give you a break without having to worry about pulling the line out of the water or setting it down and crossing your fingers. Rod holders are easy to install and not intrusive to the overall style of your boat.
Anchor
Some days, you’ll be able to find the perfect fishing spot right away and bag the biggest catch no problem. Other days, it might take some serious searching before you can locate the ideal spot. On those days, when you get to that spot, you won’t want to start drifting. If your boat doesn’t already come with an anchor, we highly recommend investing in one. Anchors add more weight to your boat, but they also keep currents and wind from pushing your boat around when you need to stay perfectly still. This may also come in handy if your motor stops working and you don’t want to get pushed into dangerous waters. You can simply drop anchor and try to solve the issue or wait for help to arrive.
Depth Finders
Depth Finders are helpful both in finding the right fishing spots and in making sure you’re still at a safe depth for your boat. All good fishermen know that certain fish hang out in certain areas depending on the time of day and the season. Some game prefers shallow waters when they’re avoiding the sun, while others dive deep when they’re avoiding certain currents. Plus, your boat may not be built to handle shallow waters, and driving blindly could run you aground. You can avoid difficult situations and optimize your fishing spot search by getting a depth finder for your boat. You can also get these specifically for your fishing rod so once you’re in the right spot, you can precisely lower your line to find the sweet spot for the game you’re trying to catch.
T-Top
Not all features have to directly impact the sport. Sometimes it’s about taking care of the fisher so that you won’t be miserable when you’re supposed to be enjoying yourself. Here in Florida, we see a lot of sunny days, and if you spend all day out on the water with no shelter, that heat can mar even the best fishing days. Consider getting a T-Top roof for your craft, if it doesn’t already have one. It’ll keep you nice and cool on hot days and keep you dry if it starts to rain. It’ll at least give you a place to rest while your fishing rods are doing the work. Not to mention, there’s more potential for storage area with T-Top roofs, like overhead racks.
Livewell
If nothing else, you’ll want a livewell. Livewells are a great way to keep fish alive and fresh, no matter how long you’re out on the water. They can be a little complicated, as they use aerated pumps to keep the well livable for fish. If your boat does not come with a livewell and you need to buy one separately, make sure these pumps have the right amount of water, which means a gallon of water for every inch of fish.
This just covers some of the basics. The aftermarket features that you can add to your boat are endless and you’ll want to take full advantage of as many as you need. However, many of these features you can buy with the boat, without having to specially request them. If you want to check out some of these models, then stop by Jet Ski of Miami in Miami Florida. We welcome all patrons from the areas of Hialeah, Key Biscayne, Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, and Key Largo, Florida.
